OLYMPIA -- The Washington State Department of Health has revoked or suspended the licenses, certifications, or registrations of the following health care providers in our state. The department has also immediately suspended the credentials of people who have been prohibited from practicing in other states.
The department’s Health Systems Quality Assurance Division works with boards, commissions and advisory committees to set licensing standards for more than 80 health care professions (e.g., dentists, nurses, counselors). Information about disciplinary action taken against medical doctors and physician assistants can be found on the Washington Medical Commission (WMC) website. Questions about WMC disciplinary actions can be sent to media@wmc.wa.gov.
Information about health care providers is on the agency’s website. Click on “Health Care Provider Lookup” under the “Find it Fast” section of the Department of Health website (doh.wa.gov). The site includes information about a health care provider’s license status, the expiration and renewal date of their credential, disciplinary actions and copies of legal documents issued after July 1998. This information is also available by calling 360-236-4700. Consumers who think a health care provider acted unprofessionally are also encouraged to call and report their complaint.
Clark County
In January 2023 the secretary of health summarily suspended the certified nursing assistant license of Akberet M. Tekle (NC10083574) pending further disciplinary action. The Department of Social and Health Services’ Adult Protective Services determined that Tekle neglected a vulnerable adult.
Kitsap County
In February 2023 the Substance Use Disorder Professional and Medical Assistant Programs and Meghan Nicole Pierson (CO61184172, CM60689360) agreed to an order that suspends her substance use disorder professional trainee and medical assistant licenses. Pierson socialized with patients outside of the care setting and propositioned one.
Lewis County
In January 2023 the Social Worker and Agency Affiliated Counselor Programs and Erin Lacey Wilson (CG61027407, SC61092359) agreed to an order that suspends her associate independent clinical social worker and registered agency affiliated counselor licenses. Wilson tested positive for cocaine while at the facility where she worked as an associate social worker.
Pierce County
In February 2023 the Pharmacy Commission suspended the pharmacy assistant license of Sara Maldini (VB61063614). In October 2021, the Department of Social and Health Services’ Adult Protective Services determined that Maldini abused and exploited a vulnerable adult.
In February 2023 the Nursing Commission suspended the nursing assistant license of Scharlene Muna (NA60764134). The Department of Social and Health Services’ Adult Protective Services determined that Muna abused and exploited a vulnerable adult.
Spokane County
In February 2023 the Chiropractic Commission suspended the chiropractic license of Timothy Bruce Price (CH00034209) for at least four and a half years. Between December 2020 and February 2021, Price engaged in sexual contact with a patient ending in a protection order from the patient. Price participated in a substance use treatment program but failed to disclose having a sexual relationship with a patient. Prior to reinstatement of his license Price must undertake all recommended rehabilitation as well as professional assessment.
