The Healthy Nutrition Guidelines (Guidelines) increase the availability of healthier food and beverage options available in state agencies. The Guidelines are based on the 2015-2020 Dietary Guidelines for Americans.
As part of Executive Order 13-06 (PDF), State Executive Agencies are required to adopt healthful food and beverage policies that meet the Healthy Nutrition Guidelines. Other agencies and organizations can voluntarily adopt the guidelines. The guidelines apply to food and beverages available through:
- Vending & Micro-Markets
- Meetings and events
- Cafeterias, cafes, on-site retail, and other concessions
- Institutions
