Some public water systems are required to submit planning documents to the Department of Health, Office of Drinking Water (ODW) for review and approval. To find out if a water system is currently in the planning process, contact your regional planner.
The planning process starts with a preplan meeting between the water system and ODW staff. Then the water system prepares and submits the document. After receiving the submittal, ODW has 90 days to review and respond to the water system. There may be several rounds of comment and response before the final version is approved.
