Fluid Cow Milk
Must be:
- Only the type of milk listed in your WIC benefits (Nonfat 0%, Low fat 1%, reduced fat 2%, or whole milk)
- Plastic or paper containers
- Cow milk
- Homogenized
- Pasteurized
- Refrigerated
- Unflavored
You can choose:
- Combinations of quarts, half-gallons, and gallons
- Acidophilus
- Any brand
- Buttermilk
- Calcium-fortified
- Kosher
- Lactobacillus
- Lactose free
- Probiotics
- Skim milk with added thickeners, such as Creamy Fat Free, Skim Supreme
Shopping Tip
- You can combine the following to get 1 gallon of milk.
4 quarts = 1gallon
2 half-gallons = 1gallon - Skim and nonfat milk are the same.
- WIC Card benefits will show milk in the following way:
- Gallon = 1.0
- Half gallon = 0.5
- Quart = 0.25
For example, if you have 3.75 gallons in your WIC benefits this breaks down as:
- 3 gallons 3.00
- 1 half gallon 0.50
- 1 quart 0.25
Dry/ Powdered Cow Milk
Must be:
- Only the milk fat type listed in your WIC benefits (Nonfat, 1%, 2%, or whole milk)
- Mixes to one quart of milk or more
- Cow milk
- Homogenized
- Pasteurized
- Unflavored
You can choose:
- Boxes, cylinders, plastic bags, or pouches
- Any brand
- Calcium-fortified
- Kosher

The amount listed in your WIC benefits equals the number of quarts after mixing with water.
Evaporated Cow Milk
Must be:
- The milk fat type listed in your WIC benefits (Nonfat, 1%, 2%, or whole milk)
- 12 oz can
- Cow milk
- Homogenized
- Pasteurized
- Unflavored
You can choose:
- Any brand
- Calcium-fortified
- Kosher
Fluid Goat Milk
Must be:
- Meyenberg brand only
- Only the type of milk listed in your WIC benefits (Low fat or Whole)
- Homogenized
- Pasteurized
- Refrigerated
- Unflavored
Please note:
- Goat milk is hard to locate
- Stores aren't required to carry goat milk
- Check at the customer service desk to see if goat milk can be ordered
Shopping Tip
You can combine half-gallons and quarts, or buy all quarts of goat milk, if half-gallons aren't available where you shop.
Dry or Evaporated Goat Milk
Washington state stores only sell dry and evaporated goat milk in whole milk. For this reason, you can't get the dry or evaporated goat milk on WIC, unless you have whole milk as part of your WIC benefits. If nonfat options become available at stores, we will take another look at that.
